October 2006 Thanks for the interest in the myspace and all the music and ... in response to all the emails etc. I've had, and to make things a lot simpler, I have put two links on http://www.myspace.com/markkeen if you want to buy one of the first 2 albums. The first is "Strange Lyrical Moments" (1998). All 12 original songs with me playing all the instruments! ... examples of the stuff on the 'Music' page ... there's a couple of free downloads to whet your appetite. The second is "It's A Shame" (2001). The Mark Keen Band with Martin Berry (RIP) & Terry Slade - Five original tunes and three covers, all licensed(!). Again, go to the website for free examples. If you're buying through PayPal the P&P is FREE! As most of you already know, I have been very busy with all kinds of 'Life' issues and loads of live gigs these last few years, so I have a back catalogue of at least four more albums worth of material all for release before the end of 2007! You can hear some of the stuff on http://www.myspace.com/markkeen or http://www.myspace.com/markkeenband and they're updated fairly regularly. The back catalogue WILL be released and includes the 8-song CD, 'Electric Circus Live @ Rox 2006' which I'm working on right now. I just need to get some pix and stuff together for the booklet and cover and finish the mixing to the exacting standards of all those discerning listeners out there. Anyway, it's coming. In fact if any of you have any pix of the crowd or the band at this years Rox then please let me have copies and I will give full credit on the sleeve for all photos used. Keep smiling, Mx September 2006 Hi everyone ... Well I'm just about on line now but it should be properly broadband next week as right now I'm about 44 Kbps for those of you who now about these things. Basically it's 20th century speeds! I now have running water, both hot and cold and enough firewood to get me through what promises to be a very cold winter. The grass is cut and office is up and running albeit rather slow on the internet front and I have plenty to do over the next few weeks work wise. I have my first gig this Saturday at a restaurant called La Charet and the are fully booked! Not bad considering I dropped in for a beer and played freely for an hour. I'll let you know how it goes later. If anyone wants a personal email or has any specific questions then please email me and I'll reply. In the meantime as usual, keep smiling and see you sometime ... Mark August 2006 In case you don't already know ... I've moved to France! I've been off-line for about 2 weeks while I move and reorganise my internet connection. To be honest it's been pretty pleasant NOT being online and also NOT using a mobile ... but that will all change come the end of this week; by then I'll be fully ADSL-ed and should have a French mobile - number to follow. If you want to see where I am staying check out the pictures HERE. There's been a bit more organising since those pictures were taken but I'm sure you'll all appreciate at least some idea of where I'm living. I've so far managed to set-up a bank account, schedule the ADSL connection, fix up a temporary office so that I can work ... work, mow the lawn (half a day at least on a tractor mower!), clean out the barn (more pix to follow), employ a French plumber to fix the pump so that I have running water, fix the boiler so that I have hot running water and then, today, lock myself out! Long story short ... I'm back inside after a long, long walk to obtain the spare set of keys. It was chaos here without water for 3 days but at least the river provided some washing facilities albeit a little dark and cold. Still, I've now had a bath and feel amazing for it! Anyway, that's it for now except to say that I miss the people, the music and the vibrancy of Sussex and of course my Girls, but do feel very relaxed and happy here ... see y'all at Christmas. keep smiling, Mark |
